The recording career of Chicago bluesman, Elmore James, was barely over a decade. But the intensity of his playing inspires musicians to this day. His only major hit came in 1952 by covering a Robert Johnson song, "Dust My Broom". Following this surprise success, his backing band would be known as "The Broomdusters" on his later records. He died from a severe heart attack at the age of 45, just before he was scheduled to tour Europe as part of the American Folk Blues Festival in 1963.
