Bird Lives

Charlie Parker looms large in the evolution of jazz music. He took traditional musical forms and added rocket-fuel. His explorations showed future generations that if you kept pushing the music, you might discover whole new galaxies of sound. Anything is possible now. His curious spirit should not be forgotten. This 18-foot tall sculpture outside the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City is a lovely spot to sit and ruminate on the man, the music, and the legacy of jazz.
